Yes, of course. If we lose several coastal cities, and the breadbasket
of California, then the economic loss would be far greater than suitcase
nuclear bomb attacks on several American cities.

The warming effect would open other "breadbasket" croplands. Even in
California.
It would never, for instance, touch the San Juaquin Valley.
You only have to drive it to see it's vastness and it STILL has not all
been put under cultivation. And there is a vast underground aquifer that
should get us pretty well on to the next IceAge went the water starts to
be locked up in the glaciers again.
If we couldn't survive these the human race would have been gone long
ago...and we had zero technology, outside of stone age tools during the
last one, when some Asiatics crossed the land bridge.
They survived, as did our European ancestors.
It might make us take population control seriously, and other practical
matters.

There's some truth to that. The shooters were jews, the psychiatrist who

Well, more and more women and girls are calling me sir as time passes.
Do you suppose they could just be appreciating and seeking the advanced

CHRISTIAN PRIEST NAMED IN 1970s-80s SEX ABUSE CASE
The news item:
Priest is named in 1970s-80s abuse case
Dominican in Midtown parish removed during
probe of claims from Fort Worth
By Richard Vara
The Houston Chronicle
Saturday, March 25, 2006
A priest serving in a Midtown parish was removed from
duty by his religious order after an allegation of
decades-old sexual abuse surfaced in Tarrant County.
The Rev. Joseph Tu Ngoc Nguyen was removed from Holy
Rosary Catholic Church in late February after then-
Archbishop Joseph A. Fiorenza learned of the allegation,
said Annette Gonzales Taylor, spokeswoman for the
Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
Fiorenza, who retired March 1, contacted Tu's order, the
Southern Dominican Friars based in Metairie, La., and
that group took action, Taylor said Friday.
Holy Rosary parishioners were informed of Tu's suspension
in a letter read at Mass, said Regina Wedig, spokeswoman
and general counsel for the Dominican order.
Wedig said Friday that the order would not release a copy
of the letter and would have no further comment pending
completion of its investigation of the allegations
against Tu.
Tu remains in Houston but he is no longer at the church,
Wedig said. His license to minister in public was
suspended in accordance with U.S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops' policy. That policy requires priests be
suspended pending investigation once church officials
receive allegations of sexual abuse involving minors.
Nguyen served at Holy Rosary for 12 years "without
incident," Taylor said, adding that none of the sexual
misconduct allegations was from the Houston-Galveston
archdiocese.
The allegation that led to his suspension came in mid-
February from a woman who said Tu touched her breasts
when she was 13 years old, in the 1970s, according to the
Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
After he was suspended, another woman alleged that she
was fondled in a confessional in the mid-1980s when she
was 9 or 10 and Tu worked at St. Matthew's Church in
Arlington, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Seven women have filed statements in a Tarrant County
District Court accusing the priest of molesting them in
the 1970s and 1980s at the Arlington church, the Morning
News said. The accusations came in connection with a
petition filed by the two newspapers to unseal records of
the Diocese of Fort Worth concerning Tu and six other
priests.
In June, the diocese publicly disclosed the priests'
names as being the only clerics accused of sexual
misconduct there since its founding in 1969.
State District Judge Len Wade originally ruled to unseal
the records of six of the priests, and recently agreed to
open Tu's records after the names of the accusers and
other personal information are deleted, according to
media reports.

Then as the ocean waters heat up, frozen methane is increasingly released
from the ocean floor, accelerating the process (already starting to happen)
then perhaps in as little as 20-80 years there can be a quite sudden cooling
due to other side effects of global warming, resulting in another long ice-age.
All of this could even happen within many of our lifetimes as ice cores
of previous temperature swings have shown.

Draconian Laws & LOTS MORE REFUGEES...

How in hell did walt disney do so good
after receiving a dishonerable discharge from the USN ?
I thought such a thing was supposed to destroy a person.
When I was at disneyland last time in Orange CA
he had his DD214 posted on a window for all to see
like he was slapping the DODs face with it.
Good for him.

Cretins like you are part of the problem for your country and part of the
solution for the rest of the world. Keep it up, don't change a thing! The
sooner most Americans are like you, the sooner the world will be rid of

Well, time goes by and so do we. A dear friend from the old days died
in her early nineties and I decided to pay a visit and my respects to
Maureen's family. The last time I was in England, Harold Wilson was the
PM and it cost me 5 shillings to get from Heathrow to Regent's Park.
This time I landed at Gatwick and took an express that set me back
about 20 pounds - given the unfavorable conversion rate of about $2 to
a pound I felt poor indeed. How the Londoners pay for living is beyond
me.
So what has changed? A lot and nothing. The city has new foreign sounds
now - Russian, Turkish, Polish - besides Hindi and other Indian
languages. Hideous things like the London Eye are a sore sight. There
are no shillings and the pubs have gone down as far as grub is
concerned - I mean they are serving nachos. Good heavens! It feels more
American than ever.
Yet, some things retain their discreet charm. A morning stroll through
Regent's Park, chilly though it was at this time, was nevertheless
invigorating. How wonderfully this Royal Park is maintained and the
beauty of the John Nash terraces, the ducks and bridges. I enjoyed this
as much as I had done more than 40 years ago. Sure the Tube was still
there - expensive as hell, but cheap considering the bang for the buck.
And then this polyglot city has a slow, easygoing grace that defies its
high density urban population from around the world. That is something
that has not changed. The way this city takes in people and makes them
in its own image. So the crowd was different, but it was the same.
British and very proper and very helpful. And this 87 year old man felt
at home right away.
So, goodbye Maureen. It was an honor to have met you - you embodied
everything that is decent and good in your countrymen. Goodbye London -
I hope I will return someday - I know you will be different in many
ways, but I will feel at home.

Ya know what tick.
It doesn't matter what you think and I didn't say hearing
the voice was miraculous, even though the results of an African American
being brought up in Louis Farrakhan's church telling this story in a mostly
white church is miraculous. I do not have to demean people because I do not
understand the reasons why they do something. If you want too that is fine,
but that just shows your prejudice, bias and lack of objectivity.

Abuse cases show church can't police itself
By Sue Ontiveros, Sun-Times Columnist
Chicago Sun-Times
Saturday, March 25, 2006
Imagine you are a renter and the landlord leases the
place next door to a new tenant. He introduces you to the
new guy, never mentioning he's a bit of a fire bug. But
the landlord knows the guy has a penchant for setting
little fires. Instead of not renting to the guy, or
better yet, turning him over to the police, he has a
third guy, Mr. Monitor, live with the fire bug, to keep
an eye on that guy. Now, besides being a crime, setting
intentional fires is a mental problem, and Mr. Monitor is
no expert in the field. Actually, Mr. Monitor doesn't
know exactly why he is watching the guy, but he does the
best he can for someone who has his own full-time job and
personal obligations.
If the fire bug sets a blaze that injures your child, how
would you feel if you knew the landlord -- who says he is
''regretful and sorry'' -- was aware of the problem?
Appalled? Mad as hell? Left to wonder why law enforcement
wasn't filing charges against the landlord?
That pretty much sums up the sorry state of the handling
of priests accused of sexually abusing children by
Cardinal Francis George and the hierarchy of the Roman
Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. Two reports released by
the archdiocese Monday reveal repeated glaring mistakes.
There is no requirement that accused priests get
treatment by professionals. There is no trained personnel
in charge of the accused priests. Even when they are
supposedly segregated from society up on the grounds of
the Mundelein Seminary, these priests still have the keys
to all facilities there, even those where visitors often
stay. No one restricts their use of the Internet, which
is like giving an alcoholic the keys to the liquor
cabinet.
How can the cardinal and the powers that be within the
archdiocese be so naive? I have to believe they are
naive, because to do otherwise would mean accepting that
all along they have been more intent on protecting
accused and known pedophiles instead of the future of our
church -- our children.
Repeatedly I've been told I've been too tough on the
leaders of the archdiocese. After reading news stories
about these reports, I've got to think that anyone in the
media who has taken them to task hasn't been hard enough.
Let's remember what we're talking about here: children.
These are innocent children who have been violated by a
priest -- a person they have been taught to revere as
God's ambassador on Earth. If you recall the story of one
boy whom the Rev. Daniel McCormack is accused of
molesting, that child had returned to the church and was
asking to be an altar boy. Maybe that day the sermon got
to him, and he now wanted to give service to his God. And
on that day, instead he allegedly was molested. How
betrayed that child must have felt.
Now we discover, through news stories of the reports,
that the archdiocese knew in 1992, when McCormack was
still a seminarian, that he was accused of sexual
improprieties with a minor. And not only didn't the
archdiocese do anything about it, but any records of the
situation seem to have disappeared.
Maybe this all stems from the fact that priests are
removed from anything sexual in society. Maybe that has
brought about a dumb ignorance that has fueled this
terrible situation.
As someone who grew up Catholic and remains a practicing
one, I'm starting to think we've put the wrong clergy in
charge of cleaning up this problem. If there were anyone
who was handling the sex abuse situation within the
church, it should be nuns. The nuns were never shy about
approaching sexual matters with us when we were young.
Sure, they might give goofy advice -- travel with a
telephone book in case a young woman is required to sit
on a fella's lap -- but they knew enough to warn us about
potential sexual pitfalls.
And they never would have left children in danger, as
these reports show the guys in charge obviously have
done.
Maybe that's not a realistic approach. All I know is the
church hierarchy has squandered the independence they
have been allowed to handle the sex abuse crisis
themselves. Either they can't or won't handle the
problem. It's time for law enforcement authorities to
step in and take it over.
