Federal statistics also show thatr gun owners commit fewer crimes per capita
than police officers and that children who have guns are less likely to get
into trouble with the law than children in households without guns. Federal
statistics also show trhat although gun ownership in America is at an all
time high, crime is at a 30 year low and murder is at a 40 year low. Which
means harmony is just plain full of shit. Best to killfile harmony and leave
IT to talk to itself.

I expect people are saying, ok, another garden variety Bush-basher;
why doesn't he join the Democratic party?
The problem is that disliking Mr. Bush hasn't meant that I like the
liberal policies any better. My opinions and beliefs really haven't
changed; it is the Republicans that seem to be repudiating everything
that conservatism really means. The movement of the Republicans away
from libertarian principles and toward "big government conservatism"
(which is an oxymoron if I've ever heard one) has really left me with
nowhere to go, and I resent it. I resent the fact that conservatism
has been hijacked, and that politicians talk about defending liberty
while taking our freedom away and putting the machinery of dictatorship
in place.
I'm not about to turn into a liberal. I want my country back.

***Bottom line? Your nation has been hijacked and there is no amount
of voting (pro or con) that is going to change that reality.
"Republicans?" .... "Democrats?" .... There is not an once of
difference between the two anymore. It's all a big political con game.
now.

The big problem is that the libertarian ideology of a small (I call it
impotent) government are actually wrong.
If you take away to much power from government that power it is going to be
hijacked by other entities. In modern times, the most likely are the
corporations. And here is where the real evil reside.
The first problem is the fact that power is like gravity. The biggest object
attract the smaller one and become bigger with an increased force will
attract others and so on. When the power is concentrated into a few number
of strongholds they will form (more likely underground, confidential) a
trust and rule at will in their own interest only.
The second problem is controll. People do have (at least some form of)
controll over government by democratic process. A corporation is a private
entity responsible only to shareholders and will do everything possible to
satisfy shareholders AT ANY EXPENSE for the rest of the society.
Combining them it is easy to reach the final conclusion:
A society where the government is not strong enough will degenerate into a
neo-feudalism. In such a society in the end the freedom of individual (so
much acclaimed by libertarians) are just going to vanish away, never to
come back unless a revolution take place. And revolutions do have their own
problems. In many cases they depart from original intent and can generate
regimes no better than the one they wanted to replace. This is the reason
revolutions are better to be avoided if possible, and nonviolent solutions
to be seek. The libertarian ideology, while attractive at first sight, it
is not fundamented at all is full of wholes and will do much worst if
applied. It will eat alive it own noble goals: the freedoms.
Short conclusion: Libertarian doctrina is just plain wrong !!!
It is broken, being based more on primitive beliefs and no much thinking.

We will lose until it looks like the Muslims are really about to win
by being.. well.. Muslims.
Then we will elect someone like me (not me but someone like me you see)
Then the game is up for the Muslims. The problem is, once you have
built a machine that can kill 2 billion people in cold blood, how do
you get it to turn off once the initial job is completed?

Again a well documented post. As Benjamin Freedman said, Holocaust
became a big business for the Jews and they exploited it to the hilt.
But nothing can be done to correct this so long as the Jews control
the U.S. government. I still have a copy of an old Time magazine,
where Edgar Bronfman was bragging that he can get an appointment with
the President of the United States within 10 minutes, if he wanted.

News of the mass killig of Jews and others was made public
starting in late 1941. The apparent intention of the holocoast was read
to the British Parliament in open session.
The thing was, it sounded unbeleavable and there were no visual
images. So it did not soak in.

The gas chambers per se were a well kept secret at the time.
Churchill indeed wrote about it. FDR died too soon. De Gaule? who
cares.

Rudolph Hoess was in a British jail before the holocaust began in
earnest. Why his opinions should now be important is way beyond me.
Besides, the Germans kept records and that is what nailed them at
Nuremberg.

Read Mein Kampf and then decide whether you think Hitler would
mandate better treatment for Polish and Russian Jews than for Polish
and (especially)Russian soldiers who hardly ever survived German
captivity.

accessible for the non-specialist general reader seeking an in-depth,
sophisticated, erudite, sometimes iconoclastic approach to the
acquisition of genuine self- knowledge. Pushing Ultimates is "must"
reading for
dedicated students of philosophy, metaphysics, and those committed to
the seeking self-enlightenment in a clamoring and all-too-superficial
world."

Ok, I accept they's not in the class of Vivid or even Seymor Butts. I

>
> At a time when communities across the nation are considering efforts to
> crack down on illegal immigration, one small city south of downtown Los
> Angeles is charting a different course.
>
> In Maywood, where 96% of the residents are Latino, and more than half are
> foreign-born, the City Council has vowed to make the municipality a
> "sanctuary city" for illegal immigrants, and over the last few months it
has
> set out to prove it.
>
> First, the city eliminated the Police Department's traffic division after
> complaints that officers unfairly targeted illegal immigrants. Then it
made
> it much more difficult for police to tow cars whose owners didn't have
> driver's licenses, a practice that affected mostly undocumented people who
> could not obtain licenses.
>
> In January, the City Council passed a resolution opposing a proposed
federal
> law that would criminalize illegal immigration and make local police
> departments enforce immigration law. Now, some in the community are
pushing
> to rename one of the city's elementary schools after former Mexican
> President Benito Juarez and debating measures to improve the lives of
> illegal immigrants.
>
> Maywood leaders say they hope their actions will serve as a counterpoint
to
> other cities, such as Costa Mesa in Orange County, that have moved forward
> with crackdowns on illegal immigrants and groups like the Minutemen border
> patrols.
>
> "You just couldn't keep quiet. I think we needed to amplify the debate by
> saying that no human being is illegal," said Councilman Felipe Aguirre,
53.
> "These people are here . making your clothes, shining your shoes and
taking
> care of your kids. And now you want to develop this hypocritical policy?"
>
> But Maywood's actions have made the town a lightning rod for criticism on
> conservative radio shows and websites. On KFI's "John and Ken Show," the
> host blasted Mayor Thomas Martin for making the city a "magnet for illegal
> immigration."
>
> Even within the city, the stance is controversial. Longtime residents
> believe the City Council has gone too far and is embracing lawlessness.
They
> also question whether Maywood can handle more illegal immigrants.
>
> "I'm afraid we're testing the limits of the law, and that's dangerous,"
said
> longtime resident J. Luis Ceballos, 52. "I think there is a danger of
people
> thinking that they can do whatever they want."
>
> Maywood is an unlikely city to be a political trailblazer. With a
population
> pegged officially at about 29,000 - but actually closer to 45,000 when
> illegal residents are factored in, according to city officials - Maywood
is
> a compact 1.2 square miles of tightly packed homes and apartments, strip
> malls and mom-and-pop shops amid the factories and industrial businesses
> that dot southeast Los Angeles County.
>
> The city was developed in the 1920s and '30s as a working-class bedroom
> community for factory workers of L.A.'s industrial belt. But like the
> neighboring cities of Bell Gardens and Huntington Park, Maywood saw an
> influx of immigration as the area's factories began to close in the 1970s.
>
> The campaign for immigrant rights has its roots in a long-brewing
political
> divide between newer immigrants and older immigrants, who consider
> themselves more "Americanized," said Ceballos, who came to the United
States
> as an illegal immigrant from Jalisco, Mexico, 37 years ago and is a
longtime
> Maywood political observer.
>
> "Many people who came here a long time ago feel that they had to sacrifice
a
> lot more and do with a lot less than people who come to the country now,"
> Ceballos said.
>
> This discord was evident at a recent City Council meeting. On one side sat
a
> group of newer immigrants who addressed the council in Spanish. On the
other
> side sat a few of the city's longtime Anglo residents and Latinos who
spoke
> in English.
>
> At one point, when Anglo resident Kathleen Larsen spoke out angrily
against
> naming an elementary school after Juarez, the audience members sitting
> behind her applauded. Most of them were Latino, and many were immigrants.
>
> Then Oscar Corona stood up and asked why the person who usually translates
> the meeting into Spanish wasn't there. He accused Councilman Sam Peña of
> laughing at him and demanded that he speak to him in Spanish.
>
> "Speak to me in Spanish, please," the 44-year-old forklift operator said,
> his voice rising. "Speak to me in Spanish, Mr. Peña. You know how to speak
> it."
>
> Peña was part of the old guard who ran Maywood until last November's
> election swept in the pro-immigrant-rights slate. Now he is in a minority
of
> two on the five-member council.
>
> For years under the previous majority, the city's police set up sobriety
> checkpoints that began in the afternoon. But the roundups also nabbed many
> drivers who simply didn't have licenses, most of them illegal immigrants.
>
> The city had a 30-day car impound period, which resulted in large fines
for
> the immigrants. The city stopped the checkpoints amid complaints, but many
> illegal immigrants were still being stopped and having their cars
impounded
> because they had driven without licenses.
>
> In many cities that might have been seen as normal, even expected. But in
a
> city where so many residents were undocumented, the practice was
> controversial.
>
> Aguirre, who runs immigration service center Comite Pro-Uno, became a
major
> critic of the city. Activist groups and the St. Rose of Lima Church joined
> him in the fight.
>
> Together they led opposition to the towing, saying that the city's real
> motive was to raise money on the backs of its large illegal immigrant
> population.
>
> "People felt like they were being persecuted," said Father David Velazquez
> of St. Rose. "Hundreds of cars were being taken away."
>
> A coalition formed that essentially supported a slate of candidates,
> including Aguirre. They won in the November election, in which the city's
> treatment of immigrants was a major issue.
>
> "They said, 'Sam is anti-immigrant, he's not with our people,' " Peña
said.
> "My parents are immigrants.. So I sympathize."
>
> The election had a record turnout: more than 3,500 out of 5,800 registered
> voters.
>
> After taking office at the end of last year, the new council quickly
> dismantled the city's traffic department. They stopped towing. They
allowed

>
> The council also rescinded a law that prohibited residents from erecting

"It's

Bush: Troops to Stay in Iraq for Years
By TERENCE HUNT, AP White House Correspondent
WASHINGTON -
President Bush said Tuesday that American forces will remain in
Iraq for years and it will be up to a future president to decide when to
bring them all home. But defying critics and plunging polls, he declared,
"I'm optimistic we'll succeed. If not, I'd pull our troops out.

There we have it! Bush has no shame in showing the world what a coward he
is. Now Bush is dumping the mess he's created in Iraq on someone else. At
least he's consistent being the world most dangerous terrorist and a
miserable failure.

How easy are we making this civil war for them? If I were a Shia (or Sunni),
I would just piss some US troops off, then lure them into a Sunni (or Shia)
neighborhood and watch them do my work for me.
But if the world press starts calling this a civil war, the rules of
engagement might change to make the US troops harder to lead around by the
nose. So the US government can't admit complicity in helping both sides of a
civil war, because that would require analysis of the rules of engagement
leading to attrocities. So the US government's cronies in the news system
keep the word "civil war" out of the news, and report all sectarian
engagements as "insurgent attacks on US troops".
What a perfect deadlock!
