Stop being a spaz.
First off, that's not what he said or even meant, BUT: over 20 years ago,
the biological descendant of either Crazy Horse or Sitting Bull had his
Bar Mitzvah. It was featured in the Jewish Monthly.

Riyadh seeks Russian help to prevent US strike on Iran

AFP | April 11 2006

Saudi Arabia, concerned that US military action against Iran would
wreak further havoc in the region, has asked Russia to block any bid by
Washington to secure UN cover for an attack, a Russian diplomat said
Tuesday.

During a visit to Moscow last week, the head of the Saudi National
Security Council "urged Russia to strive to prevent the adoption of a
UN Security Council resolution which the United States could use as
justification to launch a military assault to knock out Iran's nuclear
facilities," the diplomat told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Prince Bandar bin Sultan, a former longtime ambassador to the United
States who is often tasked with delicate missions, met Russian Foreign
Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on April 4.

Saudi officials did not give details about the meeting but the Russian
foreign ministry said the issue of the Iranian nuclear program was
broached during the talks.

Several reports in the US media at the weekend raised the possibility
that the administration of US President George W. Bush was considering
US air strikes against Iran's nuclear sites.

The United States believes Iran is secretly trying to build atomic
weapons under cover of a nuclear energy program, something Iran has
consistently denied.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said last week that Riyadh
believes Tehran's assertion.

"That is why we don't see a danger in Iran acquiring knowledge about
nuclear energy provided it does not lead to (nuclear) proliferation. Of
course, we believe proliferation is a threat," he said.

Council on Foreign Relations told of U.S. plans for Iran strike

SPECIAL TO WORLD TRIBUNE.COM
Tuesday, April 11, 2006
LONDON - Western defense sources and analysts told a meeting of the
Council on Foreign Relations that Britain and the United States are
preparing for the prospect of air strikes against Iran's nuclear
facilities in late 2006 if diplomatic efforts at the United Nations
Security Council are not succesful.

"In just the past few weeks I've been convinced that at least some in
the administration have already made up their minds that they would
like to launch a military strike against Iran," Joseph Cirincione,
director of the Washington-based Non-Proliferation Project at the
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said.
At an April 5 seminar by the Council on Foreign Relations, Cirincione
said he based his assessment on conversations with those with "close
connections with the White House and the Pentagon.

[On Tuesday, Iran announced the successful enrichment of uranium to the
3.5 percent level required to produce fuel to operate nuclear power
reactors, Middle East Newsline reported.]

On Monday, President George Bush said Iran's nuclear program could be
halted by means other than force. He dismissed reports of U.S. plans
for an air strike against Teheran.

"I know we're here in Washington [where] prevention means force," Bush
said. "It doesn't mean force necessarily. In this case it means
diplomacy."

"There is already active discussion and even planning of such strikes,"
Cirincione said. "It is now my working hypothesis that at least some
members of the administration, including the vice president of the
United States, have made up their mind that the preferred option is to
strike Iran and that a military strike will destabilize the regime and
contribute to their longtime goal of overthrowing the government of
Iran."

Sam Gardiner, a retired Air Force colonel and instructor at the
National Defense University, held a recent simulation of a U.S. attack
on Iran.

Gardiner, envisioning a five-day military operation, identified 24
nuclear-related facilities - some of them 15 meters underground -
as part of 400 Iranian sites required for U.S. targeting.

The targets for the U.S. military, Gardiner told a security conference
in Berlin in April, would include two Iranian chemical production
plants, medium-range ballistic missile launchers and 14 airfields with
sheltered aircraft. He said the United States could use its B-2 fleet
to destroy these targets.

"The Bush administration is very close to being left with only the
military option," Gardiner said.

[On April 9, the Iranian daily Jumhuri Eslami reported that Iran shot
down an unmanned aerial vehicle launched from neighboring Iraq. The
newspaper said the UAV was relaying reconnaissance of southern Iran.]
On April 3, the British Defence Ministry hosted a high-level strategic
meeting in London that included senior officials from the Prime
Ministry, Foreign Office and military. The Telegraph newspaper reported
that the meeting focused on military plans against Iran, something the
government quickly denied.

"Clearly at some level, the British don't feel that the military option
will come into play until, at the very earliest, the late summer," Hugh
Barnes, director of the Iran program of the London-based Foreign Policy
Center, said.

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw agreed. On April 9, Straw told the
British Broadcasting Corp. that a military strike against Iran was not
on the agenda.

"They [the Americans] are very committed indeed to resolving this issue
by negotiation and by diplomatic pressure," Straw said. "And what the
Iranians have to do is recognize they have overplayed their hand at
each stage."

At this point, the Western sources said, Britain and the United States
have agreed to seek support from China and Russia on UN sanctions on
Iran.

They said the two countries hope to draft a unified Security Council
resolution on sanctions before the G-8 summit in July.

Should that fail, the sources said, Britain and the United States would
prepare for an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. They said the plans
would allow London and Washington to prepare for the prospect of a
Shi'ite backlash in Iraq.

"It is a kind of dual policy that the military will be looking at,"
Barnes said. "Not just the context strategically for what an attack on
Iran would involve, but also the likely fallout from such an attack if
- as is not yet conceivable - it was to take place."

Richard Haas, a former White House national security adviser and
president of the Council on Foreign Relations, said the United States
has drafted a military option against Iran. Haas said the option called
for a limited military strike that would destroy Iran's nuclear
facilities without seeking to overthrow the regime in Teheran.

"It would be a preventive military option, not preemptive because
there's no imminent threat of use [of nuclear weapons]," Haas said.
"But something more limited, to basically destroy or set back their
nuclear development - a classic preventive military strike."

At the Council on Foreign Relations discussion, Reuel Gerecht, a former
CIA operative in the Middle East and now with the American Enterprise
Institute, said the Bush administration would wait three months to
determine whether the Security Council was prepared to sanction
Teheran. In July 2006, Gerecht said, the military option would undergo
open debate in Washington.

"We have not had that debate," Gerecht said. "We are going to have that
debate. I think we should have that debate sooner, not later, so we
don't have to get bogged down."

Salk started a novel way of conducting researches. He did not work as
an individual any more, but as a team where everyone was equal and
everyone's efforts were counted. As a result, there are a few lonely
researchers today. Instead, there are concentrated and concerted
cooperative efforts, a logical procedure in a world where cooperation
in every endeavor is a matter of necessity.

Marxist Party? There is no such thing as a "Marxist" party - they're
Communists! World Workers World Party may call itself that, but, it's
Communist. ANSWER may call itself whatever, but it's Communist. OK, OK, I
realize a lot of their members are what Lenin called "useful idiots" and
don't know they're espousing Communist doctrine, but, even without their
assent, they're Communists. Let's tell it like it is. ;-) KM

Hitler musical big hit in Israel
By Martin Patience
BBC News website, Tel Aviv

Actor Itzak Cohen says the musical does not mock World War
II
Surrounded by goose-stepping sidekicks, Hitler, with his
trademark black moustache, bursts onto the stage to the song Spring-time For
Hitler - in Tel Aviv.

Performed by a cast of 80 Israeli actors in Hebrew, Mel Brooks'
Broadway farce The Producers is taking Israel by storm.

Every night at the Cameri Theatre, musical-goers pack out the
920-seat venue to see dancing Fuehrers and brown-shirts decked out in
swastikas.

In an irony that Mr Brooks would probably appreciate, the
musical - whose plot revolves around two producers' plan to stage a Nazi
musical which will crash at the box office - is set to extend its original
run by another 100 shows.

"If there's one place in the world that has full licence to make
fun of Hitler, it's here," says the Israeli director of the musical, Micah
Levensohn.

"You hear Wagner on the radio, we see Holocaust documentaries
almost every night on the TV, so why not show The Producers?"

While some Israelis may find the prospect of a musical that
features Nazis distasteful, Itzak Cohen, who plays Hitler in the show, says
The Producers does not make light of events in the World War II.

"The Producers makes fun of everyone: old women, gay people,
blondes, Jews, producers and Nazis. I'm making a mockery out of Hitler. I
look a super-sized Hitler - a Hitler meets McDonalds," says the portly
actor, sitting in his mirrored dressing room backstage.

The Cameri Theatre had been trying to perform The Producers for
years but it was only last year that it secured the rights, says theatre
manager Noam Semel.

Mixed reactions

While Mr Semel says that "Jewish audiences are very
sophisticated", he admits that some small changes were made to The Producers
in rehearsals to avoid unnecessarily upsetting people. Whenever the Jewish
characters Bialystock and Bloom mention the word "Hitler" they spit and say
the ancient Hebrew curse "yimakh shmo" ("may his name be erased").

The put-downs of Nazism are also more pointed than the original
Broadway production.

Theatre staff were braced for protests on the opening night but
they never materialised.

"We had never had a comedy involving Hitler," says Mr Levensohn,
standing backstage after the show. "But I was pleasantly surprised that
nobody protested."

But some of the audience who attended a performance of The
Producers say it was not to their taste.

Chanan Landau, 83, and his wife Rachael, 81, fled Germany in
1933, the year Hitler came to power.

They say that the musical would make uncomfortable viewing for
some of their friends.

"I think for those who suffered in the camps or had loved ones
that died during the war this would be too much," says Mr Landau, "even if
it doesn't bother me."

"While it was 60 years ago, there will never be enough time of
these people to get over it," adds his wife.

But Rutz Aknin says showing The Producers in Tel Aviv shows that
Israeli society has moved on in the last 60 years.

"I think it's important because it gives you a perspective of
life. Now that we can laugh about Hitler and this makes us a stronger," says
the 51-year-old. "It shows that we're survivors."

No i dont think so, it probably has to be the talban elements active in
waziristan. They will benefit the most by putting the govt in a fix.
India on the other hand is better off with musharraf in pakistan than
any mullah. As mushy can be easily made to dance on bush's tunes

No, I enjoy posting truth to make people like you squirm.

Really? Give us a timeline.....you claim to be some expert at biowar
production, so let's see the proof.

And well he might, as I lack completely for charity toward the terminally

TOPIC: Does Japan deserve a security council seat?

From: acoustic@panix.com (lo yeeOn)

One might attribute the current state of anything to all its previous
causal links.

One might say that there might not be Israel today if Nazi Germany did
not slaughter Jews in Europe.

One might say that China might still be a third world country today as
it was under Chiang Kei-shek and his predecessors if it weren't for
the Japanese aggression which galvanized the people in the countryside
with whom the Chinese communists worked. Remember China before 1949
was a country which was continuously humiliated and exploited by the
US, European powers, and the imperial Japanese.

One might further say that, two generations before their large-scale
invasion finally materialized and started WWII, at the end of the 19th
century and during their first foray into China, had Japan and the
western powers not swaggered and had the Japanese soldiers not shown
off their killing sprees by recording their bloody exploits for all
the Chinese people to see (film images of smiling soldiers wiping
fresh blood off of their swords with, at their feet, the severed heads
and slumped bodies of the defeated and decapitated Boxers with their
hands still tied to the back, can be seen in _The Chinese Century_,
1996 by Spense and Chin), it would not have dawned on the Chinese
people that they needed to look deeply into their collective soul and
find out what they must do to be their own masters.

One thing leads to another, large and small. One always wants to make
the best out of a tragedy. But it does not mean that the party which
instigated the pain on others should take credit for what happened.

Jews all over the world say, ``Let us never forget what happened!'',
even though they are now some of the most influential people in the
world. They are not thanking the Nazi Germans for the holocaust and
they should not have to.

Neither should the Koreans, the Malaysians, or the Chinese have to put
up with Imperial Japan's Greater Asia propaganda deliberately used as
a cover for its large-scale aggression agenda in WWII. India had for
example worked on its independence under Mohandas Gandhi and others
long before Japan was giving Britain troubles. If Indonesia was
fighting the Dutch and Vietnam, the French, they would carry their
cause to fruition regardless of Japan. I would venture to say that
fewer people would have been sacrificed to achieve whatever kind of
national independence the people were fighting for in either case.

(Sukarno was exploiting the skin color of the Japanese invaders to
rally his freedom fighters and said, ``See, if they could defeat the
Dutch, so could we . . .''. To read more into Sukarno's words would
be tantamount to justify a foreign aggression.)

Not even the mighty US military machine could hold back Vietnam's
independence drive.

To the contrary, many more lives were sacrificed when aggressors
pretended to be liberators, just look at the lingering effects of
agent Orange and the devastation the bombing of the Indochinese
peninsula have had on the people who inhabit it.

The speeches of the wartime Japanese PM remind me of the speeches Bush
and his enablers have been giving about their imperial aggression
against Iraq. So what if they say they invaded and now occupy Iraq
for the sake of its people's freedom? The people who were killed but
would have otherwise lived have derived no benefit from this so-called
freedom that George Bush brought them, neither have their grieving
survivors. Today, Iraqis live in fear and chaos. Had Imperial Japan
been given a chance, who could doubt the mayhem, as we have seen it
repeated over many parts of Asia for half a century by the conclusion
of WWII?

Wars of aggression are immoral because they kill and because of their
overall destruction. All successful independence drives come from
within, from the people within who want it enough. There might have
been rhetoric out of expedience from time to time from both sides.

But the motives of the aggressors are always selfish and immoral. No
credits should be given to the imperial Japanese for killing millions
whatever happened to the world which survived the atrocity nor to the
modern imperial drives of the US with its immoral allies no matter how
the Middle East or the rest of the world should turn out. It will be
great if the people who inhabit the region finally wake up like the
Iranians have recently and like the Indians and the Cinese have half a
century ago. But external aggression can never get any credit from
the dialectic of the struggle. External aggression is always evil
because of its fundamental disregard for the sanctity of life.

Finally, regarding the original question: I think it is a bad idea for
Japan to assume a permanent seat in the UNSC until the world is fully
convinced that it has fully abandoned for good any hegemonic ambition
toward the world. (Actually it is totally undemocratic to have a UNSC
of 5 or 10 nations out of a membership of 200. But putting Japan in
the UNSC will in the short run help the US run its hegemonic agenda
and in the long run give an inherently unrepenting former aggressor
too much power for so few people.)

I thought the Supreme Court Ok that. I think the case had something to do
with abortion protesters.
